Before: unoccupied attic with 45mm-thick glass wool insulation. Yellow represents the area with high heat loss. Glass wool is a genuine “thermal strainer” (see yellow color on glass wool strip) plus the junction between the joists and the glass wool benefits from no insulation at all.
